What’s New to Enjoy on Your Home AV System?

Apple TV+ and Disney+ Bring New Immersive Entertainment Options to Your Screen

What’s New to Enjoy on Your Home AV System?

The old joke about cable TV used to be that there's "500 channels and nothing to watch." For some people, that may still hold true about cable. When it comes to today's streaming service options, it's impossible to run out of high-quality programming to watch. Where Netflix once used to be the home of syndicated TV series and obscure movies and documentaries, the company's original content now contends for Academy Awards. Amazon Prime Video offers a host of options, Hulu offers both catch-up TV and a streaming service that approximates cable offerings, and there are high-quality programming and movies from HBO and Showtime with no cable required.

We could go on, but we’d like to highlight a couple of new services that have recently made a splash, from industry giants Apple and Disney. Part of what’s even more exciting about these services is that they’re offering content in the latest video and audio formats that take full advantage of your home AV system in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

What’s new with these two new video streaming options? Keep reading.

Apple TV+

Apple’s long-rumored streaming service launched this past fall. It features original content like Truth Be Told, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, and a soon to be released collaboration with Oprah Winfrey. The shows are fresh and feature some of Hollywood’s best talent, but Apple TV+ features some technical wrinkles that many videophiles will appreciate.

First, in an un-Apple move, TV+ will be available on non-Apple devices. It’s on Samsung and LG smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV streamers, and more. Aside from that, it brings the vast iTunes movie library to these platforms too. The TV+ app is a way to consolidate all your viewing preferences in one place and use it as a portal to all your content.

Another great feature for cinephiles is the audio and video quality. Apple already has the most extensive library of movies for streaming in 4K HDR and with Dolby Atmos surround sound. These new TV+ shows will be available in these high-quality formats so that you can have a better experience than the local cineplex. If you don’t have immersive Dolby Atmos audio, now you have a great reason to upgrade.

Disney+

Hollywood's most powerful company also rolled out its namesake streaming service this past fall, and if you want family-friendly entertainment, this is a must-subscribe. A host of Disney classic movies are available here that will not be found on other streaming services. In addition, the hugely popular Pixar animated films, Marvel superhero epics, and the ageless Star Wars movie series can all be found here. Add to that some acclaimed new series like the Star Wars-based Mandalorian, and no one should ever complain there’s nothing on to watch.

Like Apple, Disney is also streaming their content in the best quality, using Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision HDR on those devices that support them. The immersive theater experience is available to your family with all the comforts of home.
